Orca Counselor Guidelines
Counselor-In-Training Program
In response to the popularity of our Counselors In Training (CITs) and Junior Counselor Programs at Orca Camp, we have outlined the following guidelines.
COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)(High School Students) This program gives high school students an opportunity to do Community Service in order to fulfill mandatory graduation requirements for high school. CITs are not paying campers, they are volunteering for community service hours. Campers who are interested in this special opportunity must complete an application and be invited to participate. CITs must be willing to commit to at least one complete week of camp, more is desirable. All CITs must have current CPR/First Aid certificates.
JUNIOR COUNSELOR (AGE 15+) After a camper has participated at Orca Summer Camp for 1 or more summers as a CIT, they may be offered employment as a Junior Counselor. A commitment to several weeks of camp is mandatory.
COUNSELOR By the time someone becomes a full-fledged Counselor at Orca Camp, they have proven their responsibility and commitment to the safe keeping and care of the younger campers. A commitment to several weeks of camp is necessary.
